Flash Flood and landslide swept through East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara on Sunday due to extreme weather. The authorities reported that four sub-districts and 7 villages have been impacted.
The flash flood also occured in Lembata Regency, resulting in damaged houses, stretching casualties in Leudanung village, Ossuri district, Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.
The latest report from the BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Authority), the death toll from this flash flood reached over 60 people, 9 people injured, and 27 of people are still missing. The local authorities said the number could rise further.
Road access and bridges were cut off, making it difficult for heavy equipment to reopen the affected areas due to rains and heavy waves.
Responding to the casualties, the Emergency Response team from ACT has been deployed to the affected locations. In addition to evacuation efforts, the team also provides ready-to-eat food, medical and logistical aid to the as well as the officers on duty at the location.
