URGENT! South Kalimantan Floods Reported as Emergency

Update 14 May 2021:

The flood disaster occurred in Tanah Bumbu District (a lowland coastal area), more precisely in 7 Villages. The high intensity rain started a day before Eid until the next afternoon (5/13/21) with medium low intensity, which had flushed the entire area of ​​Satui sub-district. 

ACT emergency response team had been deployed to evacuate the inundated

residents to a safer place. At least more than 5 thousand of residents were affected and hundreds of people were displaced. Most of their belongings were submerged.  

ACT has also provided public kitchens and has distributed humanitarian assistance such as staple food, clean water, baby necessities, sleeping mats, clothes, and blankets.

Heavy rainfall since January 9th has been causing two rivers in Tanah Laut and Balangan regencies overflowing. Three meter flood has swamped at least 11 districts in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. The autorities has declared a state of emergency.

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported over 256,000 people have fled their home and evacuated in at least five shelters in the regencies.

Since last Thursday, Jan. 14th Emergency Response of ACT South Kalimantan branch has been dispatched to evacuate the residents who were still trapped in their home.

The flood also has caused in Tungkaran village, Tanah Laut, and damaged 4 bridges, cauding the roads to cut off.
